Why 2FA Matters
Even a strong password can leak through phishing or data breaches. 2FA requires a second, one-time code, usually generated on your phone, so a stolen password won’t get someone into your account.
Choosing Your 2FA Method
Helabet supports authenticator apps (Google Authenticator, Authy) or SMS codes. Authenticator apps are more secure, since SMS can be intercepted. We recommend an app if you want the best protection.
Step 1: Install an Authenticator App
If you don’t already have one, download Google Authenticator or Authy on your phone. Both are free and work offline.
Step 2: Access Helabet Security Settings
Log in and go to Profile → Security. Find Two-Factor Authentication and click Enable. Helabet displays a QR code and a 16-digit key.
Step 3: Link the App to Your Account
Open your authenticator app, tap Add Account, then scan the QR code. If scanning fails, manually enter the 16-digit key. The app adds Helabet and starts generating six-digit codes every 30 seconds.
Step 4: Enter Your First Code
On the Helabet site, type the current six-digit code from your app and submit. You’ll see a confirmation message that 2FA is active.
Step 5: Save Backup Codes
Helabet provides a set of one-time backup codes. Store these securely, offline or in a password manager, so you can access your account if you lose your phone.
Using SMS 2FA
If you prefer SMS, select SMS during setup. Helabet sends a text code for each login. It’s easier but slightly less secure; SIM-swapping scams can intercept codes.
Testing Your Setup
Log out and log back in to confirm. After entering your password, you’ll be prompted for the 2FA code. Enter your app or SMS code and you’re in. If it works, you’re all set.
